A modern bed is generally low to the ground and free of any unnecessary ornamentation. There are a lot of manufacturers out there and quite a nice selection available. Obviously a nicely made bed really makes things look nice but in selecting your bed a general rule is a less dressy headboard. Often more contemporary and modern beds have built in or attached end tables. This aids in a clean look as opposed to additional clutter in a room such as un-matching end tables and lamps. Many current beds have lighting options that are more discreet than stand alone lamps.
